Position Summary Were seeking a skilled
Underground Utilities Superintendent
to lead utility operations on major infrastructure projects across
Ventura County . This role will manage underground installations such as water, sewer, storm drain, dry utilities, and related scopes within public works and large-scale civil projects. The ideal candidate will have
hands-on experience
leading teams and driving projects to completion, not merely overseeing tasks from a clipboard.
Essential Functions Lead
day-to-day operations
of underground utility crews, ensuring effective coordination of work on-site. Manage underground utility installation for water, sewer, storm drain, and dry utilities, while adhering to strict
street work
protocols. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to ensure
proper utility installation
and
regulatory compliance
(Cal/OSHA, MUTCD, etc.). Oversee all aspects of trenching, shoring, pipe laying, backfilling, and compaction work. Manage
subcontractors , equipment, laborers, and material logistics for the project. Ensure
adherence to project timelines , budgets, and quality benchmarks. Resolve field challenges
and technical issues proactively, demonstrating strong problem-solving and leadership skills. Ensure
safety standards
are consistently enforced on-site. Document
daily reports, inspections , and field changes, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements 10+ years of experience
in heavy civil construction with strong underground utility experience. Prior experience as a
superintendent or foreman
on public works or civil infrastructure projects, particularly those involving
street work
(e.g., roads, utilities, trenching, etc.). Expert knowledge
of utility construction, trench safety, and inspection protocols. Strong leadership, organizational, and
communication skills
with the ability to manage teams directly in the field. Ability to
read civil plans
and efficiently manage field resources. Valid
drivers license
and ability to travel to job sites across Ventura County and surrounding areas.
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range : $115,000
