About the Role (W2 Contract)
An established engineering and testing organization is seeking a
Mechanical Engineer
to support laboratory testing, data analysis, and product evaluation activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on testing experience, strong analytical skills, and a background in engineering or laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities Conduct timely
sample intake , including receipt, identification, storage, and return shipments. Perform
testing and analysis
using appropriate test methods, protocols, and equipment (including product and equipment testing). Adhere to
testing schedules , including stability and aging pulls. Perform
data analysis
using tools such as Excel, JMP, or MiniTab. Communicate testing challenges, scheduling conflicts, or issues promptly to management. Maintain
inventory of laboratory supplies , including general consumables and chemicals for routine testing or cleaning. Coordinate
sample disposition , including client returns and hazardous waste disposal. Keep laboratory and storage areas
clean, organized, and compliant
with safety and quality standards. Follow established
Quality Systems
and promptly report potential quality events (e.g., OOS, Deviations, CAPA). Adhere to and recommend improvements for
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) . Review and draft laboratory documents (e.g., SOPs, LWIs) under supervision. Review test results, analyze data, and prepare draft reports. Communicate with clients to provide updates or technical overviews under supervision. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and management on testing activities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelors Degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology , or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of
problem solving
and
data analysis . Previous experience using
Instron
or
Zwick
testing equipment is required. Proficiency in
Excel ; experience with
MiniTab
preferred. Familiarity with
SolidWorks
is a plus. Ideal Candidate Attributes Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Able to work independently and within a team environment. Effective communicator with a proactive mindset. Comfortable working in a regulated, lab-based setting.
