River’s Edge Group Home is a therapeutic group home located in Thompson, CT, near JRI’s Susan Wayne Center of Excellence. We serve adolescent girls ages 13–20 who often present with concurrent behavioral, mental health, and cognitive challenges.
Position: Overnight Residential Counselor
We are seeking Overnight Residential Counselors to support the development and growth of young adults who have experienced significant emotional challenges. Counselors are passionate about learning effective skills to serve these young adults, creating a safe environment, and maintaining consistent, structured routines with 24‑hour supervision.
Schedule
3rd Shift. Overtime may be required due to the nature of the work and the needs of the youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform direct care responsibilities within the group home.
- Directly supervise students while maintaining safety and security procedures as outlined by agency and program policy.
- Lead by example and role‑model appropriate professional behavior for staff and students.
- Handle special projects as assigned by the Administrative Team or designee.

Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must have a high‑school diploma (some college education preferred).
- Must remain awake throughout the overnight shift to ensure safety and wellbeing of students.
- Experience in a group home, residential program, or mental health facility preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Background and driving record checks will be performed.
- At JRI, you will learn to provide physical interventions and verbal de‑escalations to maintain the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our students.
