About The Role

The Baler / Sorter Nights position is a critical role responsible for efficiently sorting recyclable materials and operating baling machinery during night shifts to ensure continuous processing and preparation of materials for shipment. This role demands attention to detail to accurately separate different types of recyclables, maintaining quality standards and preventing contamination. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment while meeting production targets. Working primarily during night hours, this position supports the overall recycling operation by ensuring materials are compacted into bales for easy handling and transport. Ultimately, this role helps the company achieve its sustainability goals by facilitating the effective recycling of materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work night shifts consistently and reliably.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Basic understanding of sorting recyclable materials and operating industrial machinery.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a recycling facility or similar industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with baling equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • Certification in workplace safety or machinery operation.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.

Responsibilities

  • Sort recyclable materials by type, such as paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals, ensuring proper separation and quality control.
  • Operate baling machines safely and efficiently to compact sorted materials into bales according to company standards.
  • Monitor equipment during operation, perform routine maintenance, and report any malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sorting and baling areas to comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet nightly production goals and adhere to company policies.
