Industrial Heavy Equipment Operators will operate one or more cranes to move heavy equipment from one location to another, including changes in altitude. The operator must be able to operate both friction and rough‑terrain cranes.

Position Summary

Industrial Heavy Equipment Operators will operate one or more cranes to move heavy equipment from one location to another, including changes in altitude. The position will need to be able to operate both friction and RT (rough‑terrain) cranes.

Job Requirements

  • Current National Commission of the Certification of Crane Operators (CCCO) credentials for the appropriate type of crane and a current DOT physical.
  • 5+ years experience as a crane operator.
  • Must possess all knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license and meet motor‑vehicle record requirements.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate various construction cranes to move equipment and other materials.
  • Plan operational lifts.
  • Inspect equipment.
  • Be responsible for all safety aspects of operating the equipment.
  • May follow signal directions from a signaler during equipment operations.
  • Access area of operations for safety issues and required processes.
  • Plan and execute equipment operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience operating various cranes including Manitowoc 2250, 16000, 4100, Link Belt 218, Kabelco 2500, and RT cranes ranging from 25T to 140T.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to inspect equipment.
  • Ability to illustrate load planning and lift planning.
  • Current CCCO certification (may require particular certificate per crane used).
  • Up‑to‑date DOT physical.
  • Knowledge of proper hand signals.
  • Willingness to assist in other duties while not operating a crane.
  • Follow instructions correctly.
  • Reliable, accountable, and consistent in performing administrative processes such as equipment inspection paperwork.
  • Ability to follow all safety regulations.
  • Must be punctual and able to work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
  • Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
  • Experience with all listed cranes above.
  • Formal/Technical education.

Physical Requirements

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of sitting.
  • Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a visual acuity assessment.
  • Must use fingers, hands, arms, legs, and feet in precise coordinated movements.
  • Must have good dexterity.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.

  • NCCCO – Telescopic Boom Cranes – Fixed Cab (TSS)
  • NCCCO – Telescopic Boom Cranes – Swing Cab (TLL)
