Description
We are seeking a Service Desk Hardware Technician to support our NORAD/NITES program. This is an onsite position in Colorado Springs with an active Secret clearance as a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining organizational inventory and physical accountability of equipment.
- Performing software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
- Scheduling installations and upgrades in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Imaging NIPR & SIPR devices to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Ensuring workstation data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
- Maintaining continuous monitoring effort for all incidents and service requests to ensure continuous improvement in quality of service.
- Contacting customers to provide real‑time updates regarding their incident or service request.
- Maintaining access to NIPR, SIPR workstations, and all additional programs used to assist the N & NC users.
- Knowledge of DoD Mailbox provisioning using DOD Enterprise Provisioning Online (DEPO).
- Maintaining administrative privileges and experience using Active Directory.
- Configuring, imaging, troubleshooting, and utilizing Commercial Solution for Classified Devices (CSFC).
Qualifications – Required
- BS + 2 years experience. Additional work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI.
- CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications.
- Experience with Android and Apple iOS systems.
- Experience using Active Directory.
- Knowledge of ITIL principles and standards for incident resolution and customer service.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations for business processing.
- Effective verbal communication skills via telephone or in person.
- Professional presentation skills.
- Willingness to commute to a different location on Peterson SFB if needed.
- Adaptability in a fast‑paced, high‑demand environment.
- Tier‑1 physical layer troubleshooting capabilities.
- Understanding of functional differences between Android and Apple iOS systems.
Preferred Skills
- Provides clear network outage or degradation responses to user base.
- Develops Tier‑1 implementations to ease knowledge transfer.
- Knowledge of incident management and COMSPOT reporting.
- Flexibility to provide services outside regular business hours if requested.
- Familiarity with Tactical Training Processes (TTP) & Standard Process Models (SPM).
- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
- Conducts routine hardware and software audits for compliance with standards and policies.
- Capable of lifting 35–50 lbs.
- General knowledge of computer functions, shortcuts, and virtual environments.
- Experience using an ITSM tool for service delivery and performance.
- Basic understanding of DoD environment and military rank structure.
Target salary range: $40,001 – $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
