We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Accounting Manager to join our U.S. finance team based in Kansas City, MO. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving continuous process improvements across the organization. The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with the finance team in Canada, as well as with cross‑functional departments throughout the company.
Frontmatec operates in the food processing industry, specializing in long‑term, engineering‑to‑order (ETO) solutions for high‑performance automation systems. Approximately 50% of the business is aftermarket‑related, providing ongoing service, support, and system optimization post‑installation.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the month‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, recurring entries, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain the integrity of accounting data and ensure entries are properly supported and documented.
- Upload financial data into the Group reporting software (Cognos) and ensure alignment with corporate reporting timelines.
- Run and review percentage‑of‑completion (POC) revenue recognition and ensure project revenues and costs are accurately recorded.
- Manage project accounting, including tracking project‑related costs, margins, and variances.
- Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Assets register.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure data in the ERP system is accurate, consistent, and properly maintained.
- Challenge existing processes and drive efficiency, automation, and stronger internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, streamline workflows, and improve accuracy.
- Act as a business partner to other departments, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, reporting deadlines, and financial procedures.
- Proactively educate and influence other teams to follow standardized processes and support data integrity across the organization.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to strengthen alignment between finance, operations, and project management teams.
- Review and approve vendor payments, wire transfers, and other disbursements.
- Oversee expense report approvals in Concur.
- Support the management of cash flow and project‑related cost control initiatives.
- Review and analyze project cost variances, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead.
Audit, Compliance & Forecasting
- Coordinate audits (tax, statutory, financial) and serve as the key point of contact for auditors.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial insights, cost analyses, and variance explanations.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory, intercompany, and project cost variances.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and local regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, month‑end close processes, and internal controls.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and propose solutions.
- Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools; experience with Microsoft AX 2012 is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with automation tools is an asset.
- Knowledge of Power BI and Power Query is a plus.
- Proven experience in navigating multi‑entity or private equity (PE)-owned environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with remote teams (particularly in Canada).
