Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate reports of attendance, enrollment, withdrawals, schedules, student files and other required reports.
  • Meet the public and address their needs with a pleasant personality.
  • Assist the students in meeting their needs.
  • Prepare nine‑week, immunization, year‑end, and other periodic reports, schedules, and letters required by district, state, or federal government.
  • Provide first aid when necessary.
  • Handle all mail services of the building.
  • Take inventories and order needed supplies.
  • Handle money and issue receipts and related money matters.
  • Contact other schools for transcript information.
  • Contact parents regarding student absence.
  • Assist in marking textbooks and supplies; prepare registration information, report card and attendance information.
  • Order building supplies when necessary and call substitute teachers.
  • Maintain good building key records.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Typing accurate at 40 wpm.
  • Two years previous experience in secretarial or clerical field.
  • Pass Excel and Word testing.
  • Ability to meet the public.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with students.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrate computer skills.

Testing

Applicants must complete and pass Excel and Word testing before being eligible for an interview. Testing spots are limited and fill up quickly. Contact FFC8 Administration at (719) 382‑1300 to schedule testing. Applicants who have completed and passed testing are not required to test again.

Salary and Benefits

  • Classified salary schedule. New hires may bring up to eight years of previous experience in similar school settings.
  • Salary typically starts at lower end of the salary range.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, chiropractic, life, long‑term disability, accidental death & dismemberment insurances, and paid time off. District and employee contributions apply.

Employment Period

212 days per year, 8 hour work day.
