Job Description Summary

Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials from suppliers and within departments according to production schedules. Plan and schedule material and production needs. Responsible for departmental operations planning and execution within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The role allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage master planning, material processes and systems, prepare and update production schedules and purchasing needs. Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs. Optimize inventory and process improvements.
  • Include direct people management responsibility, including staffing and performance development. Utilize in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy and strategy.
  • Have knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; aware of competition and differentiators in the market.
  • Use judgment and ability to propose solutions outside of set parameters to address complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and interdependent production cycles. Use technical experience and analytical thinking. Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks. Explain information; develop skills to bring team members to consensus. Convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of material planner experience and a minimum of 3 years of material planner experience.

Desired Characteristics

Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
