Acorn Distributors, Inc. located in Brownsburg, IN is looking for Class A & B CDL drivers and Non‑CDL drivers to safely deliver products to our customers. We have been a leading distributor of janitorial and restaurant supplies since 1976. This role offers a career in the transportation industry where you will spend most of your time on the road and return home at night.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Unload products at customers’ or warehouse facilities as necessary.
- Down‑stack product on truck throughout the business day.
- Upon delivery, record sales or delivery information and obtain customer signature on delivery invoice or pick‑up requests.
- Complete and submit all related paperwork to the Transportation Supervisor or appropriate department.
- Pick up returns and/or damaged product.
- Maintain a presentable appearance – including personal appearance (uniform) and company appearance (vehicle).
- Listen to and resolve customer concerns.
- Represent the company in the most positive manner – maintain a friendly, helpful, and competent disposition.
- Perform routine safety inspections on company trucks.
- Follow OSHA safety standards and DOT regulations, and report violations to the Transportation Supervisor.
- Other duties as needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting and driving.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel, and sort and load.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move excessive weight (50 pounds or more). Employees are expected to maintain productivity and accuracy under demanding deadlines.
Equipment Used
- Two‑wheeler, pallet jack, electric pallet jack.
- Mobile phone and calculator.
- Tractor trailer or 26′ straight truck.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate teamwork and honesty.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic mathematical and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and distribution center operations as well as DOT regulations.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, Department of Motor Vehicles check, and medical examination.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- License in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one (1) year of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Will consider CDL‑A, CDL‑B, and Non‑CDL license with For‑Hire certification.
- State and federal regulations govern qualifications and standards for truck drivers; all drivers must comply with federal and any state regulations exceeding federal requirements.
