Fabral
This role owns the technical health and helps manage the business unit’s product portfolio. As a product manager at Fabral, you will manage every technical aspect of our portfolio of architectural products within one of our business units. You will help maintain accurate documentation, assist with claims and product issues, and help drive products from ideation and testing through commercialization and eventually into retirement. This role demands disciplined execution, sharp technical judgement, and the ability to translate complex engineering and code requirements into commercially successful products.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio strategy and lifecycle management – Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap. Use market research and customer insights to identify gaps and opportunities. Manage products (panels and accessories), help make decisions on features or product opportunities, and ensure each product meets profitability and growth targets.
- Product development and testing – Champion product ideation, incubation, development, testing and performance analysis. Run stage gate processes and coordinate outsourced estimates, takeoffs, shop drawings and weathertight warranty packages. Utilize internal and third party labs to ensure products meet structural, thermal and code requirements. Oversee development of component design/shop drawings as needed.
- Technical documentation and resources – Maintain accurate product specifications, technical data sheets, installation manuals and promotional literature. Ensure all labeling, packaging and usage instructions comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Pricing and financial stewardship – Develop pricing strategies that meet revenue and margin goals while remaining competitive. Forecast demand, work with supply chain to balance inventory and ensure product availability. Track profitability at the product level and drive cost takeout initiatives where feasible.
- Claims and quality management – Serve as the technical authority for product claims and warranty issues. Investigate claims, coordinate field inspections and drive corrective actions to improve product reliability and minimize potential future claims. Align customer expectations with quality expectations.
- Cross functional collaboration – Act as the technical central point for sales, marketing, operations, and finance. Provide technical training and product sessions for customers and employees. Support go to market plans with marketing and ensure the sales team has up to date technical resources.
- New product introduction – Assist in new product and system launches, from business case development to field trials and commercialization. Draw on emerging technologies (e.g., digital tools for estimating and configuration) to enhance customer experience.
- Market intelligence and advocacy – Stay abreast of competitive products, market trends and regulatory changes. Engage with trade associations, code officials and specifiers to advocate for our products and influence standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil/structural engineering or building science; advanced degree a plus.
- Technical product management or engineering experience in building materials, metal panels, roofing or siding systems; proven track record of managing products from concept through commercialization.
- Understanding of metal panel systems, roofing/siding assemblies, building codes and testing methods. Ability to read and develop shop drawings.
- Strong financial acumen with experience setting prices, analyzing P&L, forecasting and driving cost optimization.
- Exceptional project management skills with stage gate and cross functional leadership experience.
- Proficiency with digital tools for estimating, product data management, and communication; comfortable leveraging technology to streamline workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical concepts to nontechnical audiences. Willingness to travel domestically as needed.
