Interim Director of Facilities Management / Plant Operations

$3,600 weekly | 13-week assignment (possible extension)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced
Interim Director of Facilities Management/Plant Operations
to provide strong, hands-on leadership at a 135-bed hospital in Tullahoma, Tennessee. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all facility systems, maintenance, and plant functions while supporting a skilled team through an important transition period. Schedule: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM
5:00 PM (exempt position; additional hours as needed) Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the
Facilities and Plant Operations
departments. Manage a team of
7 direct reports
(1 office administrator and 5 maintenance staff, plus 1 supervisor currently on leave). Lead and participate in
patient safety huddles , departmental meetings, and leadership updates. Ensure compliance with
The Joint Commission (TJC)
standards, especially in the
Environment of Care
domain. Coordinate document reviews, facility inspections, and corrective actions. Oversee and support ongoing facility projects, including upgrades and infrastructure repairs. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement within an established health system framework. Partner with
Planning, Design & Construction
on major capital and renovation projects. Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement across the facilities team. Qualifications: Minimum
7 years of facilities or plant operations experience , with at least
5 years in a leadership capacity Direct experience with
TJC surveys
(Environment of Care, Life Safety, and facility walkthroughs) Proficiency in
work order management systems
(TMS or similar) Proven success in
team leadership, communication, and vendor management NFPA Certification preferred (not required) Healthcare or hospital facilities experience strongly preferred Environment: 135-bed acute care facility Active renovation projects (e.g., radiology suite updates) Non-union environment Collaborative, patient-centered organizational culture Top Priorities: Provide visible, engaged leadership to stabilize the department Address ongoing facility and infrastructure issues Ensure readiness for regulatory surveys and inspections Strengthen communication and operational consistency during transition Why This Role?
