Clinton College is seeking a Library Services Coordinator to manage and oversee all aspects of our library services. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the library operates smoothly, supports student learning, and provides resources for academic research and development. The Library Services Coordinator will maintain the library’s physical and digital collections, assist students and faculty in accessing resources, and promote library programs that enhance the academic experience at Clinton College. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in library science, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for helping students succeed in their academic pursuits.
Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring that all services are available to students and faculty during library hours. Catalog, organize, and update library materials, including books, journals, digital resources, and multimedia materials. Provide research assistance to students and faculty, offering guidance on how to access and utilize library resources effectively. Ensure that library technology, including digital databases, library management systems, and computer resources, is functioning properly. Troubleshoot and assist users with technology-related issues. Work closely with academic departments to support curriculum needs, recommend resources, and promote library services for class assignments, projects, and research. Organize workshops, seminars, and other programs to encourage library usage and enhance student learning and research skills. Maintain an organized and clean library space, ensuring materials are well-displayed and easy to access for students and faculty. Oversee the lending and returning of library materials, ensuring that all books and resources are properly checked in and out using the library management system. Assist library users with locating materials, using library databases, and answering general inquiries related to library services. Regularly assess library inventory and prepare reports on usage, resource gaps, and materials acquisition. Enforce library policies regarding the use of materials, noise levels, and general conduct within the library, creating a conducive environment for study. Assist in the budget planning and financial management of the library, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. Keep up to date with trends in library science, digital resources, and educational technology, recommending innovations that can improve library services. Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Library Science (MLS). Experience with academic resource development and collection management. Familiarity with Open Educational Resources (OER) and digital literacy initiatives. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field. Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in a library or academic setting, with experience in library management systems, cataloging, and reference services. Familiarity with academic research resources, including databases, journals, and digital libraries. Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to assist and engage with students, faculty, and staff. Proficiency with library management software (e.g.,
Alma, Koha , or similar systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to troubleshoot technology and provide tech support for library users. Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students effectively. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. (e.g., for organizing library materials).
