Job Overview The Department of History in the College of Arts & Sciences currently has 21 faculty members and an enrollment of about 175 undergraduate majors and 35 graduate students. The Department offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees, and has a long-standing graduate program in Public History. The Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor specializing in Digital History and Early America. We welcome applications from Early American scholars trained in digital methodologies, especially those working broadly across Colonial America and/or the Early Republic. This position carries a 2/2 teaching load under a semester system and is a standard 9-month faculty appointment. This position begins August 15, 2026. Essential Functions Enhance existing departmental strengths, particularly in training students in multi-modal and community-based scholarship. Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in digital history as well as their field of expertise. Participate in undergraduate and graduate advising, and graduate committee work. Actively engage in departmental governance and professional service to the college and university. Required Education Prior to effective date of appointment, all of the following are required: Ph.D. in American history or related field, with graduate work and/or professional work experience in digital humanities. Required Experience Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential significant contributions to the department, University of Cincinnati, and wider scholarly community. Experience teaching collegiate-level courses in Early America and/or digital history. Evidence of research excellence as shown by a dissertation chapter, publication, and/or digital scholarship in the field of Early American history. Apply Here #J-18808-Ljbffr
