We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to join the Centralized Cell Banking and Distribution Team supporting Research and Early Development in South San Francisco, California. The team’s mission is to expand, bank, perform quality control, characterize, and distribute a wide range of mammalian cell lines and advanced cellular models, including organoids and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), to internal research groups.
Key Responsibilities
Expand, cryopreserve, and perform quality control of mammalian cell lines and advanced cellular models (e.g., organoids, iPSCs).
Maintain cell cultures using aseptic technique and follow established SOPs and biosafety standards.
Perform molecular and biochemical assays, including PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and protein-based analyses for cell line characterization.
Conduct QC testing such as DNA fingerprinting, mycoplasma testing, and FACS-based analyses.
Manage biobank inventory and database records using LIMS and other digital tracking tools.
Coordinate with internal teams to fulfill cell line requests and ensure timely distribution of high-quality materials.
Support continuous improvement of workflows, including implementation of automation for liquid and cell handling.
Maintain accurate, detailed laboratory records and ensure compliance with internal quality and safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
BS or MS in Life Sciences (e.g., Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field).
Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture.
Proficiency in molecular biology and biochemical techniques (PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, biochemical assays).
Familiarity with LIMS and database maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with iPSC or organoid propagation, cell engineering, immunofluorescence staining, and/or FACS.
Experience with automation platforms for liquid and cell handling.
Knowledge of large‑scale cell banking and cryopreservation processes.
