This opportunity is a per diem remote position. Wellington Regional Medical Center is located in Wellington, Florida. It is a 235-bed, acute care hospital, owned by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., a healthcare management organization. Assumes responsibility and accountability for coding inpatient, observation outpatients, short stay surgery, emergency room, and diagnostic/therapeutic outpatient medical records according to ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines. Codes are assigned to all diagnostic and procedural statements, as documented in each patient’s medical record to determine the most accurate and optimal DRG assignment. One year of inpatient/outpatient coding experience in an acute care facility is required. Computer and encoder skills are preferred. RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification required. Must demonstrate coding proficiency by earning an acceptable score on a coding test administered by the HIM Department Director. EEO Statement
