This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Programs (N922) Branch; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH), Honolulu, HI. The purpose of this position is to provide customer service to patrons as well as to perform a variety of duties in support of the MWR community recreation program; located at the Outdoor Adventure Center.
Summary: This position is assigned to the NAF Community Programs branch under MWR and supports customer service for the MWR community recreation program at JBPHH, Honolulu, HI.
Responsibilities
Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc.
Moves heavy boxes or cartons by hand, hand-truck, or dolly.
Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears.
Stacks boxes and cartons where directed.
Uses a shovel to dig ditches where grading and sloping is not required.
Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
Runs hand and powered (walking type) lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort.
Clears small trees and bushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper.
Moves and arranges furniture as directed.
May shovel snow, sand, or dirt from sidewalks.
Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage and trash.
Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer.
Conditions of employment
Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge and skill sufficient to run lawnmowers and use hand buffers, hatchets, saws, hand and other tools requiring the same level of knowledge and skill; ability to read signs and follow simple oral and written instructions; ability to work safely while moving light to heavy weight objects.
Responsibility:
Works with specific oral and written instructions; may complete duties involving several tasks or steps independently after receipt of instructions (e.g., washing and waxing a car; unloading supplies, moving them to specified locations and stacking them).
Physical Effort:
Exerts moderately heavy physical effort, including occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects (about 50 lbs) and frequently lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs; frequent pushing of heavy furniture and carts.
Working Conditions:
Outdoor work may occur in bad weather with temperature extremes; indoor work may involve drafts, noise, dust, and standing on concrete floors for long periods; tools and equipment may present risk of serious injury.
Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
Additional information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
