Project Manager – Substation

Primary Location: Phoenix, AZ Project Site Office: Albuquerque, NM Travel: Yes, up to 15% Seeking a Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager to support substation design projects ranging from 12-kV to 500-kV. While the position is based in Phoenix, AZ, the role will actively support a project site office in Albuquerque, NM, requiring coordination with teams and stakeholders located there. This role involves managing brownfield projects at substations, switching stations, and renewable interconnections. The Project Manager reports to the Senior Program Manager and is responsible for project profitability, timely delivery, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities

Oversee full project lifecycle: siting, permitting, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout. Develop and manage schedules, scope, and budgets. Act as primary client liaison for planning, budgeting, staffing, and compliance. Support site

mobilization/demobilization

and permit acquisition. Coordinate bidder registration, RFPs, scope development, and contract creation. Administer contracts, RFIs, submittals, change management, and claims mitigation. Track and report project costs, schedules, and progress to stakeholders. Ensure compliance with insurance, licensure, and safety requirements. Manage materials logistics and subcontractor compliance. Conduct audits and assessments for safety, quality, and financials. Maintain documentation systems and support invoicing processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program. Minimum 7 years of high-voltage substation experience; 3+ years in project management. PE registration preferred; PMP certification a plus. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
