Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities including: assisting the providers and performing a variety of diagnostic Lab and X-ray procedures according to established policies and procedures.
Job Functions
When performing nursing support functions
Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary Assists with patient education Performs other duties as assigned
When Performing Lab And/or X-ray Functions
Maintains stocked supplies and inventory Sterilizes instruments, exam rooms and equipment Performs testing procedures as required Prepares procedure room/area and instructs patients Troubleshoots and maintains equipment Completes daily QA/QC procedures and provides maintenance/adjustments to equipment Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications
Graduate of an AMA accredited school of Radiology Registered by the ARRT Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies Current LPN Licensure or Medical Assistant (MA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) Current CPR certification
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
Ability to multi-task Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications Ability to work autonomously and as a team Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities When Performing X-ray Functions
Knowledge of x-ray safety for patients and personnel Knowledge of proper patient positioning and state radiology regulations Skill in performing quality control and maintaining records Ability to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities When Performing Lab Functions
Ability to troubleshoot problems with lab testing, equipment, patient samples, and kits Skill in performing quality control and maintaining records Ability to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems
Preferred Qualifications
EMR experience X-Ray Operator License (grandfathered prior to 2007) or completion of AART limited scope Operator examination per Minnesota Department of Health Previous lab experience
