Job Description

Recruiting long-term top tier talent by using artificial intelligence, data science and machine learning.

Job Description Our client is looking to add one or two talented individuals to our team who have the expertise and drive needed to take on a partner-level position. We have several Principals retiring from our firm soon and need quality staff to take their place. Our firm is primarily focused on tax preparation & consulting, but also provides bookkeeping & compilation work, payroll, and general business consulting services.

The “Principal” role in our firm is similar to a “Partner” at most public accounting firms. However, based on our organization type, our Principals are not equity holders. Each Principal manages their own book of clients and is compensated based on their personal billings as well as staff billings on their book of business. The main benefit of this structure is that there is

no equity buy-in

and, due to upcoming retirements, we have existing books of business ready for the right person to take over. We offer the typical range of benefits for all employees as well as competitive compensation. My #1 goal with all staff is that we’re able to provide a comfortable, relaxed work environment with a quality work-life balance. To that end, we typically average 50-55 hours / week during tax season and 35-40 hours / week during the summer. We have the capability to work remotely, so flexible schedules in non-peak times are available. However, due to certain technology limitations, most work is expected to be in-office for the time being.

Position Overview: We are looking for a proactive, self-starting individual to join our small business accounting team. This individual will: · Be responsible for preparation and review of individual, trust, and small business tax returns as well as coordination of periodic accounting for clients. · Work closely with staff, seniors, other principals, and clients to ensure clear communication and to accomplish project goals. · Manage assigned client relationships, including maintaining and growing book of business. · Supervise staff on assigned engagements.

The candidate will be expected to manage multiple projects and keep colleagues informed of project status and expected completion dates as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Our client offers a flexible work environment to match a candidate’s individual life goals. However, work outside of normal office hours (including Saturdays) is expected during tax season (mid-January thru mid-April) based on work availability. Peak season hours (Jan-Apr) are typically 50-55 hours per week. Partial remote work is available for the right candidate; however, some in-person training will be required if working remotely. Benefits include company group health & vision insurance, SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with 3% employer match, and company-paid group life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance. We are expecting staff growth and retirement over the next few years. Successful candidates will have an outstanding opportunity for advancement based on performance. With multiple partner-level retirements in the next 3-5 years, partner-level opportunities will be available soon with no equity buy-in required. Ideal candidate is a CPA with 4-6 years prior public accounting and/or tax preparation experience. Experience with Thompson Reuters UltraTax and QuickBooks is a plus, but not required. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Successful candidates may perform other related duties to meet on going needs of the company.
