The successful candidate will guide clients through complex regulatory frameworks, lead high-stakes litigation, and manage multidisciplinary teams to secure project approvals and defend environmental interests. Duties
Advise clients on federal, state, and local environmental statutes and land use regulations. Lead permitting processes for large-scale development and infrastructure projects. Litigate environmental and zoning disputes before administrative agencies and in civil courts. Conduct due diligence and environmental risk assessments in real estate transactions. Draft and negotiate settlement agreements, consent orders, and memoranda of understanding. Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and government officials to advance client objectives. Mentor junior attorneys and oversee support staff on case strategy and document preparation. Requirements
21 years of experience practicing environmental and land use law. Demonstrable track record of handling complex permitting, enforcement defense, and land use litigation. Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing. Established relationships with regulatory agencies and local planning bodies in the NYC area. Proven ability to manage multiple high-value matters and meet critical deadlines. Strong client development and retention skills. Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Certifications
Licensed to practice law in New York State. (Optional but preferred) Certification in environmental law or land use planning. Skills
Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical capabilities. Strategic problem-solving and risk-management proficiency. Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation skills. Leadership and team-management experience. Proficiency with e-discovery tools and legal research databases.
