Position Summary
Placements Unlimited is seeking a dependable, physically fit professional to join our team as an Experienced Mover/Driver. In this dual-role you will both load, transport, and unload household and/or commercial goods, and also safely operate company vehicles. A clean driving record is required along with strong customer-service skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities • Safely operate company moving trucks and other vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and company driving policies. • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle; report any maintenance or safety issues promptly. • Load and unload furniture, appliances, boxes, and other materials carefully, using proper furniture pads, straps, dollies, and other equipment. • Disassemble and reassemble furniture as needed (e.g., beds, desks, shelving) to facilitate safe transport and placement. • Securely load items in trucks to prevent shifting or damage during transit. • Transport items to clients' destinations, unload and place items per client requests, ensuring a high level of care and service quality. • Greet clients in a professional, courteous manner; explain moving process, complete walk-throughs, and ensure client satisfaction. • Work collaboratively with crew members to maximize efficiency, maintain smooth workflows, and uphold company standards. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of truck, equipment, and moving supplies; ensure cushions, pads, straps, dollies are returned and stored correctly. • Follow all safety protocols: use proper lifting techniques, maintain good posture, protect client property, handle fragile items appropriately. • Adhere to scheduling and job-assignment instructions from supervisors; track job status and report any delays or issues. • Document move activities as required (paperwork, inventory checklists, condition reports, client sign-offs). • Provide an excellent customer experience: friendly interaction, respect for client's home/work environment, and attention to detail throughout the move.
Qualifications & Requirements • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (no major violations, no at-fault accidents) required. • Minimum 1 year of experience in the moving industry or a related field (e.g., moving/trucking, logistics, warehouse) preferred. • Physically able to lift, carry and maneuver heavy items-frequent lifting of 50+ pounds and occasional heavier loads. • Strong communication and customer-service skills; professional demeanor when interacting with clients. • Ability to work as part of a team, follow direction, and adapt to changing job demands. • Reliable, punctual, high-integrity individual who takes ownership of job quality and safety. • Must be comfortable working in variable environmental conditions (e.g., stairwells, loading docks, tight spaces). • Must wear company uniform and follow company dress/appearance guidelines. • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings or weekends as operationally required. • (Optional/Preferred) Familiarity with moving trucks (box trucks), dollies, furniture pads, straps, and best-practices for moving and protecting client possessions. • (Optional) Basic mechanical/vehicle maintenance awareness to identify issues during inspection.
