to join our team in support of the Tactical Network (TACNET) program, providing critical engineering support for PMW-160. This position is based

ON-SITE

at a major communications command in

Norfolk, VA

, focusing on the Automated Digital Networking System (ADNS) program.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Network Engineer Principal, you will play a vital role in designing, analyzing, planning, modifying, and maintaining complex networks and network components that support a wide range of communication activities including data, voice, and audio transmissions. This role entails offering expert communications systems engineering support across various platforms including U/VHF radio communications systems, Common Data Link (CDL) systems, and commercial/government satellite communications networks.

JOB DUTIES:

Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide installation and advanced technical support and troubleshooting for network systems, ensuring quick resolution of issues.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineering and support teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of network systems.

Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain thorough documentation and reports on network designs, modifications, and performance metrics.

Ensure the system is operational and available within specified customer timeframes.

Network Design and Maintenance: Design and maintain robust network infrastructures, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for communications.

Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Systems Analysis and Planning: Perform detailed network analysis and planning to support current and future communications needs.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, with nine (9) years of experience in Configuration Management and Network Administration in a Department of Defense (DoD) setting. Years of experience in lieu of degree will be taken into consideration.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must have a TS/SCI clearance to start.

Security+ Certification (other higher level security certifications acceptable).

Ability to obtain relevant OS/CE certification for Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) compliance (e.g., CCNA, Linux+) within 6 months of hire.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Hands-on experience with operating systems and network hardware related to ADNS and its supporting systems.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience with Tactical Data Links, Military Communications, DoD Networks, Global Information Grid (GIG), Common Data Link (CDL), Link 16, and Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).

Windows and Linux system administration skills.

Expertise in network routing & switching systems (e.g., switches, routers).

Experience with TACLANES and other Communications Security (COMSEC) devices.

Experience with Triton unmanned vehicle program.

Knowledge in network defense systems (e.g., firewalls, IDS, IPS).

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent level of Cisco certification.

Experience with Linux Red Hat versions 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Experience in a VMware environment.

Ability to exercise independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies of military data communications.
