SUMMARY:
The NPI Technician is responsible for supporting new product information (NPI) and functioning as a main contributor to build First Article Wire/Cable Harness assemblies. Will additionally demonstrate knowledge and skills to build wire harnesses, harness boards, assembly jigs and test fixtures. The NPI Technician will also work cross functionally to support Manufacturing as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Build First Article Wiring/Cable Harness Assemblies. Document assembly and sub-assembly builds for process/work instructions. Build to compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620, JSTD-001 and company standards. Build harness boards, assembly jigs, and test fixtures. Support Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing with new tasks and goals as required. Use various gauges/measuring devices and be able to use hand tools along with small bench top equipment. Help with product testing and test procedure development. Coordinate with other NPI team members to provide technical support and coaching. Provide continued support of manufacturing documents, processes and activities. Identify areas for improving productivity, efficiency and profitability to drive projects/deliveries to completion. Perform document verification testing on first article Help support training requirements for new/current hires. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPENTENCIES:
Minimum high school graduate or general education degree (GED). 2-3 years building and supporting custom Wire Harnesses, Cable Assemblies, Electromechanical Assemblies including Box Build and Panel Build. Experience to interpret BOM's, blueprints, wire diagrams and schematics. Ability to build new products to customer specification. Can create manufacturing processes in an NPI cell environment and supply 1st piece Articles for customer review and approval.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is conducted in an office and manufacturing environment and may require some or all of the following: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation. • Repetitive hand and arm movements. • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment, tools, or material weighing up to 50 lbs. May involve moving or setting up equipment for testing or demonstration. • Frequent reaching, grasping, pushing or pulling, bending or twisting motions. • Walking and standing for extended periods during site inspections, meetings or while supervising construction or manufacturing processes. • Standing, bending or kneeling to access equipment, perform on-site assessments, operate machinery, handle delicate components or perform detailed inspections. • Occasional travel to client sites or other company facilities may be required. • Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations including the ability to move quickly from job sites or perform urgent troubleshooting. • Working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. May involve exposure to battery chemicals or other materials used in the assembly process. • Required to wear and properly use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves as required by safety protocols.
