Koniag Professional Services LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a HRIT API Solutions Architect to support KPS and our government customer. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This is a remote opportunity.

Koniag Professional Solutions is seeking an experienced Solution Architect with specialized expertise in API technologies and Human Resource Information Technology (HRIT) systems. This role is critical for designing and implementing innovative, scalable, and secure solutions that connect HR systems and enable seamless data flow across the enterprise. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of modern API architecture with comprehensive understanding of HR systems, data models, and business processes. This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

The Solution Architect will be responsible for designing comprehensive technical architectures that address complex HR technology challenges, with particular focus on API-driven integration and interoperability. The position involves collaboration with HR stakeholders, technical teams, and executive leadership throughout the solution lifecycle. Principal responsibilities include:

Design enterprise-level architecture solutions for HR systems with emphasis on API integration patterns and strategies

Develop API frameworks and standards that enable secure, scalable integration between HR systems and other enterprise applications

Create comprehensive technical designs for HR solution implementations, including integration architecture, data flows, and security models

Evaluate and recommend API management platforms and technologies that meet HR integration requirements

Design RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures for HR data exchange and process automation

Develop integration strategies for connecting core HR systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.) with peripheral applications

Create architecture roadmaps that align HR technology capabilities with business objectives

Design authentication and authorization mechanisms for securing HR APIs and data flows

Collaborate with HR business analysts to translate requirements into effective technical solutions

Provide technical leadership and guidance to implementation teams throughout the development lifecycle

Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation within HR technology landscape

Present architectural concepts and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders

Develop technical standards and governance processes for API development and management

Create proof of concepts to validate architectural approaches for critical HR integrations

Education and Experience:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

8+ years of experience in IT with at least 5 years in architecture or technical leadership roles

Strong experience designing and implementing API architectures and integration solutions

Experience with HR systems architecture and implementation

Demonstrated expertise in integration technologies and middleware platforms

Required Skills and Competencies:

Deep knowledge of API design principles, patterns, and best practices

Experience with RESTful API design, development, and management

Strong understanding of HR systems architecture and data models

Knowledge of API security standards and implementation (OAuth, OIDC, etc.)

Experience with API management platforms and gateways

Understanding of microservices architecture and implementation

Experience with HR data integration patterns and challenges

Knowledge of HR business processes and system workflows

Strong expertise in integration technologies and middleware solutions

Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging patterns

Understanding of identity management and access control for HR systems

Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts

Experience creating architecture documentation and diagrams

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Desired Skills and Competencies:

Knowledge of federal HR systems and integration requirements

Experience with specific HR systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, Workday, SuccessFactors, etc.)

Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or other modern API technologies

Understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD for API deployment

Experience with cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Knowledge of API testing methodologies and tools

Experience with data governance in HR contexts

Understanding of HR analytics and reporting architectures

Experience with HR document management and workflow automation

Knowledge of HR compliance and security requirements

Experience with API monitoring and observability solutions

Understanding of master data management for employee data

Experience with HR data migration architectures

Knowledge of federal security frameworks and compliance requirements
