Job Title: Quality Lab Technician
Job Description
Perform sensory, physical, chemical, and instrumental evaluation of incoming raw materials, in-process, and finished products following SOPs and specifications. Expedite the evaluation process and final disposition while providing information to production teams. Assist in the development and maintenance of specifications and troubleshooting quality issues in production. Participate in the development of specialized processes to improve quality or food safety. Generate data for Certificates of Analysis and participate in taste panels. Maintain lab data, supplies, and calibration of equipment on a regular schedule, and work on corrective actions for any customer complaints or issues.
Responsibilities
Test samples for specific gravity, refractive index, and Karl Fisher moisture.
Run samples on Gas Chromatography (GC) to test raw materials and in-process products.
Create and submit Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
Review batch records and complete quality documentation.
Conduct final product document review and inspection.
Manage HACCP and CAPA documentation and review.
Support corrective actions related to customer complaints and issues.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
Lab skills with a focus on quality control.
Knowledge of Gas Chromatography (GC), refractive index, flash point, and specific gravity.
Proficiency in Excel and Word.
0-2 years of experience in a relevant field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with sensory evaluation and tasting.
Familiarity with refractometers, sensory analysis, and flavor profiling.
Work Environment
Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime including weekends. Candidates should understand that supporting production may require working overtime as necessary. This position offers hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) in a collaborative and dynamic lab environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
