Position Summary
The Technology Systems Administrator maintains the reliability, security, and performance of LanguageBird's core IT infrastructure, including Microsoft Entra, Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, Exchange, Teams, Cloudflare, and telephony systems. This role, reporting to the Director of Technology, emphasizes cybersecurity, data protection, and endpoint management using Microsoft Defender and Intune. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem, coupled with experience in automation, scripting, and integration to enhance operational efficiency and security.
Key Responsibilities
System Reliability & Performance
Maintain and optimize Azure, Entra, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and related systems for high availability. Proactively monitor infrastructure health and performance, addressing issues before they affect users. Automate workflows and administrative tasks using Azure Functions, Azure Cloud Shell, or PowerShell. Security & Compliance
Lead implementation and ongoing administration of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft 365, and Identity and Intune (Endpoint Manager) for endpoint security and support. Perform regular vulnerability scans and remediation tracking through Defender for Endpoint or related tools. Continuously assess and improve the organization's security posture through auditing, reporting, and Defender threat analytics. Administer conditional access, MFA, and identity protection in Entra. Systems Management & Integration
Support cloud environments with Azure resource management and monitoring. Manage DNS, networking, and traffic protection via Cloudflare. Design and implement automation for user provisioning, system configuration, and reporting using PowerShell, Azure Functions, or Logic Apps. Manage Vonage and other telephony systems, including call routing, integrations, and troubleshooting. User Support & Documentation
Provide advanced Tier 2/3 support for Microsoft 365, Teams, and Exchange environments. Maintain clear technical documentation and system configuration records. Conduct staff training on cybersecurity best practices. Project & Change Management
Plan and execute implementations, upgrades, migrations, and security initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate new technologies and improve system efficiency. Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other related field. Proven experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, and Defender environments. Background in maintaining and securing IT infrastructure for small to mid-sized organizations. Experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL Database administration preferred. Familiarity with API-based integrations, Power Automate, and Azure Cloud Shell strongly preferred. Technical Skills
This position is ideal for an experienced systems administrator who enjoys hands-on cloud security, automation, and improving how people work through technology. Expertise in Microsoft Intune, Defender, and Entra administration. PowerShell and Azure Cloud Shell scripting abilities. Familiarity with RMM and SIEM tools and concepts. Understanding of endpoint security, DLP, and compliance management. Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Calm under pressure with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Collaborative and dependable, with high personal integrity. Other Requirements
Must reside in and be eligible to work in the United States. Must be able to travel by air or motor vehicle to conferences, trainings, and meetings as needed/required. Must be able to work Monday-Friday 9 AM-5 PM ET and be available for evenings as needed for project launches. Compensation
