Business Operations / Data & Analytics Job Summary The Business Analyst plays a vital role in bridging business needs with data-driven insights across underwriting and insurance operations. This role focuses on gathering and analyzing requirements, enhancing underwriting processes, and transforming complex data into clear business stories that support decision-making and strategy execution. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, communication, and storytelling skills, along with a solid understanding of the insurance domain. Key Responsibilities Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Collaborate with underwriting, operations, and analytics teams to collect and document business and functional requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Underwriting Process Analysis: Evaluate and improve underwriting workflows, data capture, and risk assessment processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and profitability. Data Analysis & Storytelling: Translate data into actionable insights and visual narratives that influence strategy and business outcomes. Develop clear and compelling dashboards, presentations, and reports. System & Process Enhancement: Support configuration, testing, and implementation of underwriting and insurance platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, or other core systems. Collaboration & Communication: ct as a liaison between business stakeholders, data teams, and IT to ensure successful project delivery and effective use of analytics. Reporting & Insights Development: Partner with data and analytics teams to define KPIs, validate data quality, and deliver reports or dashboards for operational and strategic decision-making. Project Coordination: Participate in Agile ceremonies or project meetings, helping manage deliverables, priorities, and timelines. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field. 3-6 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the insurance domain, preferably with exposure to underwriting or commercial lines. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and experience in creating executive-ready dashboards. Familiarity with insurance policy lifecycle, underwriting processes, and risk management principles. Excellent storytelling and presentation skills - ability to simplify and communicate data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Working knowledge of SQL or similar querying languages for data validation. Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies and tools like JIRA, Confluence, or Azure DevOps. Preferred Qualifications Experience with predictive analytics or working alongside data science teams. Knowledge of insurance regulatory and compliance requirements. Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, CSM, AINS, or CPCU. Exposure to automation, process optimization, or system integration projects.
