Snowflake
Snowflake is about empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential — and people too. With a culture that’s all in on impact, innovation, and collaboration, Snowflake is the sweet spot for building big, moving fast, and taking technology — and careers — to the next level.
We’re passionate about our people, customers, values and culture. We’re also looking for people with a growth mindset and pragmatic insight to solve for today while building for the future. As a Snowflake employee, you will be accountable for supporting and enabling diversity and belonging.
Snowflake started with a clear vision: make modern data warehousing effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. Because traditional on‑premises and cloud solutions struggle with this, Snowflake developed an innovative product with a new built‑for‑the‑cloud architecture that combines the power of data warehousing, the flexibility of big data platforms, and the elasticity of the cloud at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions.
Over the last few years, Snowflake has added additional products and features to its portfolio (data pipelines, cross‑region/cloud features to data exchanges) to become the leading Data Cloud.
Snowflake technical writers work with a world‑class team to create product documentation for Snowflake’s industry‑leading Data Cloud. Working in a fast‑paced and challenging environment, you experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions as Snowflake delivers weekly releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers.
This position is a hybrid role and is required to be in either our Menlo Park, CA, or Bellevue, WA office location.
Responsibilities
Create online guides, reference docs, and tutorials for technical audiences (SQL engineers, application developers, etc).
Engage directly with product managers, software engineers, and UI designers to ensure all features, enhancements, and changes are fully documented.
Work with release engineers and DevOps to deliver weekly product updates and documentation.
Help drive customer engagement and adoption by creating supporting content:
Contributing to Knowledge Base articles and Community questions.
Authoring and editing technical blog posts.
Developing training materials, implementation guides, migration guides, best practices, and FAQs.
Required Skills / Experience
10+ years creating technical product documentation from scratch or from specifications.
Strong SQL and RDBMS skills (Oracle, Teradata, Redshift, SQL Server, etc) and comfortable working with sample code.
Exposure to documenting security and governance technologies such as:
Identity and Access Management (SSO, OAuth, MFA, RBAC, SCIM, etc)
Networking and Private Connectivity (AWS PrivateLink, Azure Private Link, Google Cloud Private Service Connect)
Governance (data masking/tokenization, row‑level security, data classification, anonymization, etc)
Additional topics: data encryption, auditing, compliance and regulatory standards.
In‑depth knowledge of the content development lifecycle, including:
Identifying and understanding the information needs of the audience.
Gathering information, interviewing SMEs, and conducting research.
Authoring, publishing, and managing online/web content.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with:
ETL/ELT and BI technologies.
Cloud computing platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, etc).
Programming languages/APIs (Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#/.NET, etc).
Big Data analytics, machine learning, and statistics (Spark, Scala, R, etc).
Database drivers/connectors (JDBC, ODBC, etc).
Exposure to:
CI/CD methodologies and technologies (Jenkins, Lambda, etc).
Open‑source platforms and authoring/publishing tools for a “Docs‑as‑Code” approach (Git, RST/Sphinx, Markdown, DITA XML, etc).
