Raleigh, NC ,

Houston, TX ,

San Diego, CA ,

Irvine, CA , and

Tampa, FL . The successful candidate will be involved in projects with our Ports and Maritime Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Our Maritime group comprises highly motivated analysts, planners, and maritime civil and structural engineers working in key locations across the US and internationally for major clients such as port authorities, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, terminal operators, contractors, private entities, and municipalities. WSP has been a leader in waterfront design for over 90 years, delivering diverse and challenging projects worldwide.

Your Impact

Take responsible charge of supervising the work of staff engineers, supervising task leads, and performing calculations and preparing drawings and technical specifications.

Prepare technical studies and reports and guide/review the work of staff engineers.

Perform oversight of calculations, cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications and reports.

Perform quality assurance checks. Manage and lead projects, tasks and staff for marine facility projects, including various types of cargo terminals, federal facilities, and clients such as port authorities and DoD agencies.

Perform multiple discipline management and coordination of internal and external teams comprised of civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection, and architecture.

Prepare alternatives analysis reports and presentations for repair projects and capital improvement programs.

Lead review meetings, client presentations, and design charrettes.

Perform business development and general marketing activities. Maintain positive client relationships. Participate in preparation of technical proposals, presentations, negotiations, and staff estimates.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

7+ years of relevant post‑education experience in engineering discipline and prior marine, port, and coastal design experience.

Engineer license required (multi‑state preferred).

Aptitude in maritime related codes (ASCE, COPRI, etc.) and Department of Defense (UFC, UFGC) criteria.

Competency in supervising staff in state‑of‑the‑art computer programs.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and be able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card which requires a TSA background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Experience with design and management of Port Authority, NAVY, or Coast Guard projects.
