Upholds AEC Core Values of Excellence, Integrity and Respect in all work-related activities. Communicate project status with management and customers. Ability to conduct pFMEAs and Risk Assessments. Ability to estimate automation systems and develop a cost model. Design molded, welded, etched, stamped, machined, and extruded components in SolidWorks. Create 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, and part files for components in SolidWorks. Participate in design reviews, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application while adhering to project timing. Coordinate and/or perform design verification and validation testing of new designs with the reliability engineering group. Identify, in conjunction with sales and management, automation concepts that address current customer needs. Utilize originality, ingenuity, and creativity to manage complex and large scope project assignments. Modify existing product designs to improve performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability. Research and develop solutions to products requiring revision and process updates through an Engineering Change Notices. Assign part numbers, create Bills of Material, and define product configurations. Mentor and assist associate mechanical engineers and technical staff in the engineering principals and procedures for product design, development, fabrication, and testing. Manage the development tools and licenses, templates, and process for the mechanical engineering functional group. Understanding and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards (OSHA, RIA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, NEC, ISO 13849-1; EN 954-1). Support company continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred. MS in Engineering a plus. 10 - 15 years of experience in high precision mechanical design. Advanced experience bringing designs to production using design for manufacturing techniques, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other quality control techniques. 3D SolidWorks modeling, drawing generation and CAD database experience required. Experience in Visual Components simulation software a plus. Ability to program various industry robots OEs such as ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, Yaskawa, etc. a plus. Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office and shop environment. Regular trips to client facility and/or manufacturing plant is also required. Sound knowledge of safety standards within the shop and manufacturing environment, including exposure to regulated hazardous chemicals and equipment is necessary to safely use and operate in such environments. At times travel will be required as well as working evenings, weekends and/or holidays which is done to support client needs during any shutdowns and/or scheduled maintenance. Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move between standing and sitting. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms including pushing and pulling; talk, hear and see to communicate and ensure safety procedures are followed.
