Position Overview We are seeking highly motivated Mechanical Engineers to join our Power Generation team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems and components used in power generation facilities, including conventional and renewable energy sources.
Location:
Detroit, MI (remote, transitioning to hybrid in office)
Responsibilities
Evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to site development projects
Develop design documents including analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout
Assist in the design of mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for power plant systems, including steam cycle, boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer, conveying, and air/gas systems
Prepare design calculations and specifications for major power plant equipment such as combustion turbines, steam turbines, boilers, condensers, cooling towers, and pumps
Prepare mechanical engineering designs, including layout, design sketches, and conceptual design
Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes, standards, contracts, and company policies
Analyze, calculate, research, select, and layout the necessary design and construction documentation
Assist in developing schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements for project completion
Coordinate with drafters, designers, and engineers to review work progress and results
Prepare specifications for major market‑related equipment
Qualifications
At least 6 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, preferably in the power industry
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program; master’s coursework preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Strong motivation, initiative, ethics, safety focus, and commitment to excellence
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Team player who works independently and meets deadlines with strong organizational and detail‑orientation skills
