The Senior Technical Product Manager (TPM) will lead the technology strategy and implementation of lab automation platforms that enable Proteins and Cell & Gene departments within the Therapeutics Development (TDS) organization, delivering scalable, data‑driven solutions that accelerate product development while ensuring compliance and quality. The Sr. TPM will be part of the Innovative Medicine Technology R&D Global Sciences team.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the product roadmap for Lab Automation capabilities across Proteins and Cell & Gene within Therapeutics Development.
Translate scientific and operational needs into actionable product requirements; manage the backlog and drive value-focused delivery.
Forge strong partnerships with Innovative Medicine Technology, R&D Global Sciences, JJTS, Quality, and external vendors to deliver integrated automation solutions (robotics, LIMS/ELN, sample tracking, instrumentation).
Lead end-to-end data strategy for lab automation: data capture, governance, quality, lineage, and analytics consumption to enable informed decision-making.
Ensure seamless interoperability with upstream/downstream systems and teams.
Drive Agile-powered delivery with cross-functional squads; ensure features are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Oversee vendor selection, integration, and performance management for automation hardware and software solutions.
Promote a data-literate culture and enable self-service analytics for lab users, with secure access and appropriate governance.
Lead change management, training, and documentation to drive adoption across global sites.
Ensure compliance with GxP, data integrity standards, and quality‑by‑design in all lab automation initiatives.
Operate with a global mindset, coordinating activities across sites and regions; participate in occasional travel as needed.
Qualifications Education
Master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree with substantial relevant experience acceptable.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CAP/CIAP, PMP/PMI-ACP, CISSP/CISM/CISA) are a plus.
Experience And Skills
8–12+ years of progressive experience in product management, digital transformation, or lab/biotech automation; proven track record in leading technology strategy within complex organizations.
Deep domain knowledge in Lab Automation, Proteins, and Cell & Gene therapy workflows; familiarity with core lab IT systems (LIMS, ELN) and automation hardware (liquid handling robots, robotics workcells, etc.).
Experience delivering data‑enabled solutions: data governance, data integration, analytics, and data quality across laboratory environments.
Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate scientific and operational goals into a technology roadmap and measurable outcomes.
Excellent leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills; comfortable operating in a matrixed, global environment.
Agile/SAFe experience and a track record of delivering large‑scale technology programs.
Superior communication and stakeholder management; ability to influence senior leaders and diverse teams.
Demonstrated adaptability, problem‑solving, and the ability to drive change in scientific and manufacturing contexts.
Required Capabilities Or Differentiators
Global, cross‑site program leadership with experience in regulated labs.
Proven ability to partner with R&D, Clinical, IT, and external vendors to deliver integrated solutions.
Strong emphasis on data‑driven decision‑making and measurable outcomes (ROI, adoption, time‑to‑value).
Change management, user enablement, and training to drive adoption of new lab automation capabilities.
Travel
Up to 10–20% travel anticipated (adjustable based on project needs and policy).
Compensation & Benefits Anticipated base pay range: $118,000 to $203,550.
Additional Description For Pay Transparency: The Company maintains highly competitive, performance‑based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
