Culture and Arts Program Assistant (Goldbelt Heritage Foundation)
Goldbelt Heritage Foundation (GHF) is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and revitalizing the culture, language, and ways of knowing of the Tlingit people of Southeast Alaska. Through educational programming, language revitalization, arts, and community collaboration, GHF fosters Indigenous knowledge and strengthens cultural identity for current and future generations.
Position Summary:
The Culture and Arts Program Assistant provides entry‑level administrative and logistical support for GHF’s Culture and Arts program, with a primary focus on assisting with GHF’s adult and family art classes. This quarter‑time position helps with scheduling, class set‑up, materials preparation, and participant support to ensure smooth operations. The role is designed for someone seeking to gain experience in program support and nonprofit operations while contributing to cultural and educational initiatives.

Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:
Program Support
Assist in preparing and staffing program activities and events for adult and family art classes
Help with materials preparation and classroom set‑up
Provide on‑site support during classes and community events as needed
Administrative Assistance
Responsible for record keeping for classes and community events
Support data entry, attendance tracking, and basic reporting, as related to classes and community events
Communication & Collaboration
Assist with participant correspondence and posting flyers
Time will be split between the office and an official work site, depending on program needs
Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to assist with event setup, including moving items weighing up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
No prior experience required; training will be provided
This position will work primarily on weekends
Ability to pass a background check
Position will be exposed to multiple allergens including cedar and wool (sheep and mountain goat)
Must be willing to travel to local and regional events via plane, car, ferry, etc. as needed
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in customer service
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) preferred
Interest in Tlingit art and culture
The salary for this position is $17.50-$20.00 per hour + DOE.
