Behavioral Health Senior Clinician - Jail & Court Based Services. Fairfax County Government position within the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) supporting Diversion First on the Jail Based Team. Onsite at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center with weekend/evening hours, some holidays, and on-call requirements. Base pay range : $79,192.88/yr - $131,987.44/yr Sign-on bonus : $2,500 (full-time); eligibility described in accompanying materials. Location : Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (onsite). This position is a lead clinician on a multidisciplinary team including therapist/case managers, medical staff, peer support specialists, and criminal justice partners. Provides a wide range of professional treatment services to diverse client populations with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, emotional and co-occurring disorders, and developmental disabilities. Case management includes community and office-based work with collaboration to community human services providers, criminal justice partners, and healthcare providers. Services are client-driven through collaborative, motivational relationships in individualized treatment planning. May conduct individual, group and family therapy and testify in court. Maintains detailed documentation in an electronic health record meeting state, local and federal expectations. Illustrative duties
(representative, not all-inclusive): Performs complex evaluations and diagnoses using DSM. Provides individual, family and group treatment; maintains a diverse caseload. Approves and/or implements therapeutic treatment plans; conducts intensive clinical interventions. Provides family therapy in a residential setting; coordinates clinical care with non-CSB clients. Prepares court-ordered evaluations (competency, sexual abnormality, presentencing, sanity). Discharge planning and after-care coordination; collaborates with IDT and community professionals. Monitors psychotropic medications and conducts risk assessments; provides crisis stabilization and crisis management. Employment standards and qualifications
Minimum qualifications : Graduation from an accredited college with a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing; plus two years of clinical experience. Certificates and licenses required : Current Virginia license in one of: Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Licensed Professional Counselor; Clinical Psychologist; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner; Clinical Nurse Specialist. CPR/First Aid (within 3 months). Valid driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent). Underfill requirements : This vacancy may be underfilled at the Behavioral Health Clinician in Residence level (S26, $75,474.26 - $125,790.50). Requirements include meeting the standard above and the ability to become licensed within defined timelines; details in the underfill agreement and KSAs document. Necessary special requirements : Criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, driving record check, sanction screening; TB screening on hire and annually; National Provider Identifier. Emergency/essential services personnel; may be required to report during inclement weather or emergencies. Shift schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays; on-call; overtime may be required. Licensed providers may not opt out of Medicare. Preferred qualifications : At least one year of behavioral health services experience in community settings. Experience within the criminal justice system (courts, jail, probation). Experience with treating individuals with mental health disorders, SUD/COD. Ability to follow work processes, collaborate with service agencies, and work in a team. Strong organizational/time management and clinical skills. Physical requirements : Ability to walk long distances within multiple buildings, climb stairs, attend offsite meetings/trainings; effective oral and written communication; ability to input/retrieve data; duties accommodate reasonable accommodations.
