CPU Tools and Diagnostics Development Engineer Join AMD as a CPU Tools and Diagnostics Development Engineer. Bring your expertise in software development and CPU architecture to design and enhance tools that stress AMD processors, ensuring functional and operational quality for our next‑generation CPUs.

THE ROLE As a member of the AMD CPU Architecture Team, you will apply your software engineering expertise and understanding of CPU design to develop, enhance, and maintain stress tools that evaluate AMD’s processors for performance, reliability, and time‑to‑market. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to continuously improve stress and coverage tools based on technical insights and user feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain stress tools for AMD CPUs.

Collaborate with CPU design teams to understand and target micro‑architectural features.

Provide training and documentation to support tool usage across teams.

Address issues and implement improvements based on user feedback and testing results.

Participate in CPU micro‑benchmarking and silicon validation efforts.

Work with debug and design teams to identify root causes and resolve issues.

Preferred Experience

Proficiency in C/C++ and x86 assembly in a Linux environment.

Solid understanding of x86 CPU architecture and instruction sets.

Experience with silicon bring‑up, validation, and debugging.

Strong problem‑solving skills in dynamic environments.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Collaborative ability across diverse teams and functions.

Additional Experience (Nice to have)

Familiarity with CPU product characteristics (frequency, voltage, thermal design power, performance).

Knowledge of Design‑for‑Test (DFT) and Design‑for‑Debug (DFD) methodologies.

Experience with power management, power‑up sequences, clocking, and reset sequences.

Understanding of system‑level architecture (SoC, DRAM, PCIe, board interactions).

Exposure to silicon debug tools and infrastructure.

Education Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
