The Work You Will Do District Freight Coordinator
This position serves as the primary district coordinator and expert for all multimodal freight and seaport mobility initiatives. It ensures strategic coordination and investment across highways, rail, air, and marine systems to facilitate economic development and optimize the movement of goods throughout Florida.
Coordinate on freight matters with other governmental organizations and the private sector; assist in facilitating public-private, state-local, and state-federal freight transportation investment decisions; communicate with freight customers/partners using targeted e-mails, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and forums.
Serve as the freight point-person for designated District(s), interact with national federal freight coordinators/officials, and coordinate with economic development agencies, private sector, and other stakeholders to advance freight and multimodal transportation improvements.
Collaborate on a statewide multimodal freight mobility program (highways, air, marine, spaceports, and rail) with multiple public agencies and private partners to align with strategic objectives and work programs; coordinate with Transit, Aviation, Rail, Seaport, Spaceport, and SIS coordinators/managers.
Develop and implement efforts to improve freight mobility, freight infrastructure, and related operations within the state as part of a unified, multimodal system regardless of funding or ownership.
Act as the department’s liaison with Seaport Directors and Port executive staff; coordinate with elected officials and high-level staff on work program development and project issues; monitor SeaCIP and JPAs; review grant applications and ensure compliance with JPA requirements; approve change orders and third-party contracts; review complex project invoices and final payments; conduct periodic site reviews; represent the District.
Ensure state transportation agencies integrate freight mobility considerations into day-to-day practices and promote synergies with statewide policy initiatives; schedule updates with central office freight and modal staff to coordinate project work and modal updates.
Oversee program management, analysis, communication/coordination, strategic planning, budget/finance, and training; establish relationships and act as an advocate for freight issues with other governmental and private sector partners.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:

Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years of professional or non-professional experience in transportation, planning, public administration, engineering, or logistics; or Professional Engineer registered in Florida Statute 471, or a bachelor’s degree with 2 years professional experience, or a master’s degree with 1 year professional experience as described.
