About The Role
As a
Test Automation Specialist – Healthcare EDI & API Testing , you will make an impact by leading test automation and quality assurance efforts for healthcare applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as
EDI formats (837/835) . You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders across multiple projects.
In This Role
Lead test planning, preparation, and execution activities for healthcare applications.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and Gherkin to validate both UI and API layers.
Execute functional, regression, and integration tests across web and RESTful API services using tools like Postman or Insomnia.
Write and optimize SQL queries for backend testing and data validation across healthcare data systems.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and manage version control using GitHub, following Git flow practices.
Perform backend scripting and validation to support test automation and data verification.
Analyze test results, log and track defects, and collaborate with developers and business analysts to ensure timely resolution and continuous quality improvement.
Mentor and guide QA team members, coordinate test efforts across multiple projects, and promote best practices in test automation, API testing, and healthcare domain QA.

Requirements
Strong experience in Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and Gherkin for test automation.
Hands‑on experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia.
Domain expertise in healthcare, specifically with
EDI file transactions (837 and 835 formats) .
Proficiency in SQL for backend testing and data validation.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and version control using GitHub/Git.
Working knowledge of backend scripting and Linux environments.
Proven ability to lead QA efforts and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
Additional Qualities
Experience mentoring QA team members and promoting best practices in automation and healthcare QA.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Familiarity with Git flow practices and CI/CD pipeline optimization.
Ability to work independently in a remote setup while managing multiple priorities.
Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards and data privacy regulations.
Salary and Other Compensation Applications will be accepted until November 6th, 2025.
The annual salary for this position is between $44,834 – $76,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
