Compliance Inspector – OOC Child Care Compliance, Chesterfield Job Location:

1390 Timberlake Manor Parkway, Chesterfield, MO 63017. Requires travel within the counties on the regional map. Ideal candidate should reside within St. Louis City or St. Louis County.

Inspect child care facilities to ensure laws and regulations are met.

Interpret state laws and regulations, and explain them to child care providers and stakeholders.

Process applications for issuance of child care licenses.

Provide technical assistance, including informational meetings as needed.

Consult on problems related to child development, behavior, and health services.

Prepare required reports as assigned.

Attend and participate in meetings and workgroups as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Set and follow priorities, adjust to rapidly changing situations, and manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Department staff, other state and local agencies, and the public.

Understand child development.

Navigate a computer and learn data systems.

Manage a caseload with minimal supervision.

Demonstrate reliable, engaged attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in elementary or early education, sociology, psychology, child development, social work, or a closely related field.

OR

Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 6 earned credit hours in the same areas and two or more years of professional or technical experience in elementary or early childhood education, social services for children, or experience in the provision of child care, or

Four or more years of professional or technical experience in child care licensing, elementary or early childhood education, social services for children, or experience in child care provision, plus a high school diploma or equivalency.
