POSITION SUMMARY
The Test Engineer within the Manufacturing Engineering group will have the ability and skillset to develop and support a variety of electronic and electro/mechanical test equipment. The relevant test equipment is used to support motors, generators and controllers that are used within the aerospace market. Additional duties include developing test procedures, training test operators, troubleshooting product, supporting new product integration activities, and acting as the technical interface between other functional groups and other AMETEK sites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support to developing and building new and existing production test equipment. Specific skills related to equipment automation, test software support, AC/DC motor functions, Starter Generator functions, embedded controllers, Environmental Stress Screening, general electrical and mechanical test equipment construction Developing test equipment that performs precision measurement of critical performance parameters of motors and actuators. Eg.speed, linear and angular position, force, voltage, current, volumetric flow Provide on-site electronics test and troubleshoot support as related to PCB assemblies Mechanical and Electrical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot equipment and products. Develop operating test procedures, provide operator training, troubleshoot and repair test equipment, review safety requirements. Work with team to identify improvements to existing equipment, including the identification and justification of new equipment. Support new product development activities by designing and implementing test strategies and equipment. Support the transition of products and processes to other AMETEK sites. Act as the technical liaison between sites and other technical personnel. Provides technical advice and knowledge as needed on projects. Work with Quality, Production and Service Center management to resolve quality issues. Support continuous improvement activity within the factory. Work with EHS to ensure shop meets all standards and requirements and recommend improvements where necessary. Initiate improvement ideas and see through to implementation. Partner with Engineering, Sales and Production teams to deliver results. Any other work as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical degree. 5-7 years’ experience in a technical Manufacturing/Engineering environment supporting test operations Knowledge or experience with PLC controllers, LabView software, ARINC 429 communications is a plus Knowledge or experience with motor testing using dynamometers and variable speed drives is a plus Prior experience working in the Aerospace & Defense industry is a plus Knowledge and understanding of Aerospace aircraft systems is a plus Experience identifying, qualifying and implementing new equipment into a production environment Experience programming automated equipment Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communication skills (both written and verbal) with attention to detail. Experience developing visual work instructions. Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines. Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally. Must be self-directed and be able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Occasional domestic travel to other AMETEK sites (5-10%).
