Position Salary: USD $43.27 per hour.

The Position We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to support our organization’s payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, reconciling payroll-related accounts, and maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and experience working in a non-profit environment.

What You’ll Do

Process bi‑weekly payroll utilizing UKG, ensuring accuracy and compliance

Review and audit timekeeping data, earnings, deductions, and benefit withholdings before finalizing payroll

Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies; respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality

Interface payroll data with NetSuite, ensuring accurate payroll‑related journal entries and account reconciliations

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA, IRS, and state wage/hour laws

Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity in the payroll system

Collaborate with HR on employee compensation, benefit changes, and payroll‑related updates

Identify and implement opportunities to improve payroll workflows, data integrity, and reporting capabilities within UKG and NetSuite

Stay current on changes in payroll regulations

Support the financial reporting process related to payroll expenses

Reconcile quarterly and annual tax filings, including W‑2, 941, and other statutory reports

Assist in the preparation of year‑end reports and respond to audit and reporting requests

Additional tasks, projects and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

What You’re Skilled At

Minimum of 4 years of payroll experience, ideally within a non‑profit organization

Strong understanding of payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance

Hands‑on experience with payroll and accounting systems such as UKG (UltiPro or Kronos) and NetSuite and/or Sage Intacct

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

High attention to detail and accuracy

Commitment to confidentiality and data security

Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Familiarity with non‑profit accounting principles, including grants allocations, restricted funds

Understanding of non‑profit payroll complexities such as tax‑exempt status 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans

Other

Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards

Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification

Ability to pass post‑offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances

This position does not require regular driving as part of daily duties but may be needed occasionally

Ability to work a 9/80 work schedule

Ability to work a hybrid work schedule

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience required

Minimum 4 years of related payroll experience required

Experience in a non‑profit organization preferred

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
