Description:
We are seeking a Firmware Test Engineer to test firmware of gas metering products using both black and white box manual testing methods, and to interpret C/C++ embedded code. You will be responsible for identifying bugs in key signals by monitoring and determining the cause of the problems, and transitioning testing methods from manual to automated.
Responsibilities
Test firmware of gas metering products using black and white box manual testing methods.
Interpret C/C++ embedded code to identify and solve problems.
Identify bugs in key signals by monitoring and determining the cause of the issues.
Transition testing methods from manual to automated.
Implement and develop firmware tests using white/black box methods to uncover bugs in natural gas sensors.
Run test plans using lab equipment on natural gas metering systems.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Embedded C, C/C++, and embedded systems.
Experience with firmware and Linux.
Ability to read C/C++ in embedded systems to find and solve problems.
Minimum 2+ years of firmware testing experience (5 years preferred).
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with I2C communication protocols and microcontrollers.
Python scripting for automating tests and executing white box testing.
Experience with test equipment to run black box tests.
Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with a certificate in programming.
Experience running tests and firmware development on ST microcontrollers.
Work Environment The work environment is a manufacturing facility with an office setting, consisting of a team of 4 firmware developers, 1 software developer, 1 electrical engineer, and a few mechanical engineers. The position requires on-site presence about 10% of the time. The dress code is casual, allowing jeans and a polo. The role offers relatively flexible work hours, especially when working remotely, within a trusting and laid-back team culture.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay And Benefits Pay range: $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
