We are seeking a Sr Electrical Harness Engineer to join our team in Mountain View, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for product-level design and validation of electrical wire harnesses and subassemblies that are critical to the operation of our autonomous vehicles. The role will require knowledge in designing harness schematics, harness diagrams, harness manufacturing, and generating system interconnect diagrams. The role will work collaboratively across electrical, mechanical, and integration engineering teams to build safe, reliable systems.
Responsibilities
Be a core member on the Electrical Engineering team responsible for designing high quality harnesses assemblies for a system that includes high speed, low voltage, and high power requirements
Design and validate custom automotive harnesses that are critical to the operation of our autonomous vehicle
Responsible for working with our external partners for harness manufacturing
Develop wire harness schematics and harness diagrams
Responsible for harness BOM, component selection, and harness
Familiar with automated tools for harness validation
Own full lifecycle of harness design, including technical reviews, trade studies, outsource cable manufacturing, test, and product release
Lead root cause analysis and resolve issues in electrical systems
Interface closely with other teams such as Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and with external suppliers
Qualifications
BS or MS, or equivalent experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of hardware development experience, ideally within the automotive, aerospace or a related industry
Deep understanding electrical harness designs
Familiarity with IPC quality standards
Experience with implementation and on-vehicle debugging of low level hardware buses such as CAN and Ethernet
Hands on. You are just as comfortable getting your hands dirty analyzing a subsystem in the shop as when using a keyboard.
Great communicator. You have experience writing clear, concise, and detailed documentation
