We are seeking a Technology Development Engineer with expertise in Nokia and Oracle Core Network Functions (NF) and hands-on experience in deploying and troubleshooting cloud-hosted core network workloads on AWS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying, and validating telco Network Functions (VNFs/CNFs) in a development environment, ensuring seamless integration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of network functions. Preferred candidates will also have teleco knowledge and an understanding of cloud native frameworks. This role requires strong collaboration with network engineers, cloud architects, and test teams to optimize network performance and support advanced telecom solutions. Be a trusted Advisor in your area of expertise, to the other layers of the 5G network by understanding network requirements, identifying risks and proposing mitigation plans Creatively advocate current and new technologies solutions relevant to Dish 5G next generation network Conduct technical presentations, showcase solutions, set up demonstrations and explain features and benefits of the solutions architectured in the areas of: Routing, switching, Automation/Orchestration, assurance, virtualization, SDN, Optical, Data Center and Security Proven record with vendor management to achieve architecture, team, and company milestones In addition to having a strong technical background you will need to have the ability to learn and keep up to date on networking and software enablement, API’s, Network Programmability and Virtualization/NFVI Work with a wide variety of technologies and will therefore need strong team working and consultative skills and capacities to effectively develop and architect solutions Able to juggle between being an individual contributor, active community participant, mentor others and maintain a knowledge transfer plan for large sophisticated project delivery and/or activities Deploy, integrate, and troubleshoot VNF/CNF Core Network Functions on AWS EC2, EKS, and Outposts, including Nokia and Oracle NFs (AMF, SMF, UPF, etc.) Perform end-to-end 4G/5G call flow testing, validate core-RAN interoperability, and support end-to-end connectivity Configure AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect) and monitor performance using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and GuardDuty Automate infrastructure and testing with Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation; refine pipelines with DevOps and CloudOps teams Analyze traffic with tools like Wireshark and Nokia NetAct; troubleshoot latency, packet loss, and scaling issues Document deployment procedures, troubleshooting steps, and collaborate with AWS and Core vendors to enhance system reliability Education and Experience
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field with 5+ years in telecom network engineering 5 years of work experience in Routing, switching, Access, Automation, Orchestration, Data Center Technologies Advance knowledge of the Service Provider architecture, keeping updated on products and solutions Knowledge of 4G/5G network design Knowledge in Software defined networking and programmability Experience with development, operations, or support of a production cloud service Excellent technical consulting skills, including ability to define trade-offs, ask probing questions, and incorporate Cisco solutions into a broader technology environment Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills Strong written and verbal communications skills Technical leadership in multi-disciplinary project or program teams, as per complexity. Receive minimal instructions on routine work, general instructions on new projects or assignments. Provide mentorship and training to new engineers and architects within their team. Experience with cloud native software defined networks in the context of voice and IMS solutions deployed on a 5G Network. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with strict deadlines, both as an individual contributor and team player. Preferred Qualifications
