Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineers to oversee and support multiple industrial building projects from planning through execution. This role requires a strong understanding of subcontractor management, field operations, and experience with review of contract plans and specifications, project scheduling, cost forecasting, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have several construction projects with subcontractor oversight for building projects, be proactive in identifying and resolving issues, ensure site compliance, and drive operational excellence with the team. This is a great stepping stone into Project Management roles, and mentoring is provided with experienced professionals to support development.

Location This role requires going where the work is. The first project for this role will be located in the El Paso, Texas / Santa Teresa, New Mexico area. Kiewit relocates teams based on work availability and offers per diem and opportunities to work on different project types to develop your career.

Responsibilities

Perform contract compliance, quality control, and field oversight of subcontractors on the project.

Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.

Inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and potential cost-saving measures; take corrective actions as needed.

Review subordinates’ work for compliance with contract documents; address deficiencies and implement corrective measures.

Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software; collaborate with project management to ensure schedule accuracy.

Document control and change management; handle project closeout and manage logging/tracking of drawings and contract documents.

Review new issue drawings for changes in conditions; quantify impacts and communicate with supervision; distribute updated documents to field teams.

Prepare monthly cost projections and develop quarterly cash flow projections to support financial planning.

Identify operational improvements and provide leadership; supervise and train junior engineers and project staff.

Qualifications

Ability to travel and relocate as needed.

Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering or equivalent required.

5+ years of work experience in construction or engineering, vertical construction preferred.

2+ years of experience managing engineers and project subcontractors.

Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies in engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Highly motivated with demonstrated initiative and strong work ethic.

Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity; strong safety mindset.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to work in a team and independently to meet deadlines.

Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail.

Ability to work during normal hours and overtime/weekends as required.
