Salary Range: $4,801.16 - $7,761.50 per month • Pay Frequency: Monthly • Shift: Day
Essential Responsibilities
Direct projects and activities of the facility’s physical plant, including planning, coordinating, scheduling, and supervising all utility services, grounds, buildings, equipment maintenance, and repairs, plus small construction projects and vehicle operations.
Develop work procedures and performance standards in line with administrative and professional policies; ensure compliance with applicable codes and accreditation standards (Fire, Life Safety, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical).
Monitor contract projects, evaluate onsite work by contractors, and ensure adherence to NFPA, NEC, TAC, and Life Safety codes.
Lead a maintenance department (electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, carpenters, painters, automotive mechanics, groundskeepers) and oversee internal construction/renovation plans and equipment replacements.
Manage project costs, approve requisitions, supervise contract expenditures, and approve credit card purchases.
Coordinate activities with state agencies, facility support services, outside vendors, and customers to deliver reliable maintenance services.
Develop, monitor, and evaluate annual Utility Management Plan to ensure safe, reliable utility systems; participate in Environment of Care plans (Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Management, Life Safety, Utility Systems, Medical Equipment).
Lead the Maintenance Department Quality Improvement Team (QIT) and participate in EC Committee and other assigned committees.
Prepare reports, compile project information and budgets, and communicate regularly with facility leadership on maintenance operations and project updates.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of plant maintenance operations (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, grounds, motor pool) and Life Safety Code.
Knowledge of applicable accreditation standards and CAFM or other facility management systems.
Skills in written and verbal communication; ability to develop staff, build partnerships, and conduct performance evaluations.
Ability to interpret data for decision making and to work with contractors; proficiency with floor plans (e.g., Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office applications.
Licensure, Certifications And Registrations
Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it within 90 days of hire; provide driving record if license is out-of-state.
Licensure/certification in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or Carpentry preferred.
Qualifications (Initial Screening Criteria)
Graduation from an accredited four-year college with at least 12 months of construction trades experience (HVAC, Plumbing, Framing, Engineering) or an Associate degree with 24 months’ experience, or no degree with 48 months’ experience.
Five years of leadership experience in managing multiple facility maintenance functions or shops preferred.
