Job Description The Sr. Applications Engineering role is central to Savant Power’s mission. Partner with sales and new customers to translate their existing system experience (or competitive solutions) into Savant Power system designs, providing technical guidance on architecture and deployment options.
Deliver technical training and education at industry events, distributor workshops, and trade shows to educate partners and customers on Savant Power capabilities and deployment best practices.
Champion product improvements by synthesizing customer feedback (both wins and challenges) and delivering insights to Product Management and Engineering to guide future development.
Keep pace with emerging residential battery storage programs and incentives—including Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems, Virtual Power Plants, and rebate/financing opportunities—to identify ways Savant Power can better serve customers and capture new market segments.
Stay informed on building and fire codes, with particular attention to regional variations, to advise the company on compliance requirements and identify code‑driven business opportunities.
Provide on‑site technical support for key customer deployments and complex installations to ensure successful execution and gather real‑world implementation insights.
Qualifications
Must be based in California, preferably Southern California.
5+ years of experience in the residential solar industry, with a preference for experience with Behind‑the‑Meter (BTM) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) assets.
Proven ability to analyze electrical, structural, mechanical, and architectural drawings.
Ability to break down complex engineering concepts for working with non‑technical stakeholders.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and providing concise feedback on project status to identify critical conditions.
Thrives on both team wins and individual contribution.
Embrace rapid change in a startup‑minded company operating in an industry navigating significant evolution.
Engineering degree not required. Industry experience is more important than education. Must be able to read plans, understand the latest codes and regulations, and have experience seeing power systems being built.
