Overview
Summary: The Commercial Loan Officer II is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting and coordinating the closing of difficult equipment, SBA, commercial, construction, real estate and business loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures; develops business checking and deposit relationships with customers; and promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. The position assists in attaining established Bank, region and branch goals through active participation in sales management and officer call programs. Responsibilities
Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business; promotes a positive sales environment through education of the Bank’s products and services. Interviews prospective applicants, collects information related to loan or credit applications, and resolves questions regarding application information. Performs pre-qualification assessments and analyzes financial condition and risk of financing requests within the Bank’s credit culture and current trends. Gathers and analyzes information to present financing requests to Senior Management or Loan Committee; meets with customers; negotiates terms; approves loans within limits or refers to the Chief Credit Officer or Loan Committee. Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures compliance with agreements and policies; obtains necessary information from customers; resolves processing issues; approves disbursements within agreements. Ensures credit inquiries and UCC filings are researched to determine credit worthiness and collateral positioning; certifies or deletes collateral as needed. Negotiates, underwrites and processes renewals of credit facilities; approves loan payments and fund transfers within limits; issues commitment, engagement, auction and decline letters. Provides exemplary customer service and follows up with customers and employees as needed. Maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors and competition. Represents the Bank at community events to enhance the Bank’s image and market position; manages portfolios and reviews NSF/overdraft reports; handles past due and maturing loans. Promotes cross-selling of Bank products and services; collaborates with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies and charge-offs as appropriate. Supports annual deposit and loan growth goals and participates in internal committees; responds to inquiries and follows through with customers and staff. Demonstrates sound decision making within policy limits and uses lessons for staff development; assumes responsibility for special projects and prepares reports for Senior Management and audits. Performs administrative tasks accurately and on time; complies with safety standards and Bank policies. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from a college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Financial analyzing or lending background of 6-10 years preferred. Registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry as a mortgage loan originator (SAFE Act). Intermediate knowledge in financial statement and tax return analysis; understanding of lending activities and terminology; knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan processing. Knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations; ability to develop marketing and business development skills; basic knowledge of branch operations and Bank products. Ability to read and interpret business materials; excellent organizational and time management skills. Computer proficiency; typing skills; advanced mathematical ability; strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication. Ability to handle complex problems and work with minimal supervision; valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance if required.
