Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct the psychological services program at SCI Frackville.
Work with a psychological staff to screen inmates for psychiatric services or other mental health services.
Use diagnostic techniques to evaluate intellectual functioning, perform individual and group counseling, and develop psychological treatment objectives for each inmate.
Develop new psychological services programs, policies, and procedures, and manage counseling programs that address daily living and social problems.
Ensure treatment objectives and therapeutic service goals are met through effective communication and building working relationships with staff and inmates.
Chair the Psychiatric Review Team and serve as a standing member of the Clinical Review Team for suicides and attempted suicides.
Act as an expert witness in legal proceedings regarding inmates.
Qualifications
One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist; (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or behavioral dysfunction.
Possession of a valid license to practice psychology issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board.
Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
PA residency requirement currently waived for this title.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Work Schedule
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework not available.
Salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.
