Primary Purpose
The Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Clerkship Director administrates the OMS‑III and OMS‑IV required clerkship in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care by overseeing the delivery of all components of the Emergency Medicine/Critical Care curriculum, developing appropriate content, and providing clinical career advising/NRMP match support for Pediatrics. Essential Job Functions
Demonstrate an active and consistent commitment to the mission of Rocky Vista University and its College of Osteopathic Medicine. Responsible for development and oversight of all aspects of the OMS‑III and OMS‑IV Emergency Medicine and Critical Care curriculum, including clinical assessment. Develop and maintain positive relationships with clinical faculty and health‑care executives in the RVU‑MCOM regions to advance quality Emergency Medicine and Critical Care clinical rotations. Recruit clinical faculty to create and support quality clinical rotations. Work in conjunction with the Associate Dean/Clinical Affairs and other medical educators to develop appropriate faculty development. Participate in clerkship rotation site visits and inspections to ensure quality student experiences and faculty compliance with the Clinical Education Manual. Work in conjunction with Clinical Education leadership in developing strong curricular content for the clerkship. Assist in the development of assessment tools including standardized patients for evaluation of competencies. Serve as the liaison between RVU‑MCOM Clinical Education and rotation preceptors. Help oversee evaluations of adjunct clinical faculty for clerkship rotations in the assigned region(s). Assure the advancement and integration of high standards for ethical and professional behavior in all aspects for RVU‑MCOM, students, and personnel. Participate in institutional and committee meetings as designated by the Clinical Dean or Campus Dean. Participate in student interviews, career advising, and residency match support. Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Dean or Campus Dean. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work off‑campus and travel to clinical rotation sites. Demonstrate time management skills and organizational skills. Ability to problem‑solve efficiently. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Knowledge of university and college policy and procedures. Knowledge of the Clinical Education Manual. Knowledge of student services and activities. Demonstrations of professional involvement and leadership. Demonstrations of scholarly activity, research, service to public or profession. Well known and reputable in the medical community. Demonstrations of professional involvement and leadership in medical organizations. Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree (MD, DO) from a COCA or LCME accredited college of medicine. A current BC/BE in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care certification examination. Board certification in Critical Care. One (1) to three (3) years of experience in medical education. Preferred Qualifications
AOA board certification. ABMS board certification. Maintenance of a medical license. Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in medical education. Previous work experience in a medical school.
